Jungle Room

Here are some pictures of my classroom. I have everything decorated with monkeys and other jungle creatures. The pictures of the huge tree that expands across the top of my room do not do it justice. The background behind the tree is rolls of printed paper, which I made into wallpaper. Last summer I painted my classroom yellow. (All it took was a little prodding and the board said yes!) I originally came up with the tree and paper to cover that wall because there was a Bible mural painted on it. I did not paint over the mural, but instead brainstormed for a way to cover the wall. And so, the tree was born.

The children's names for the coat rack and places where they sit for circle time are printed on little monkeys and bananas. I found the most adorable safari hats, which I will use with magnifying glasses throughout the year for us to "look" for different things while on adventures. The outside of my door carries on the jungle theme with all sorts of animal printed paper, on which I stamped the children's names. (A huge thank you to my mother-in-law for all of the wonderful paper she brought me!) There are lots of other things I wish I could take pictures of, but I thought for privacy sake that I should not. Happy Tuesday to you!

Busy Little Feet

Today is the day I get to see my new kiddos! After scouring though papers, books and websites for lesson preparations, rearranging of furniture over and over, sewing fringe on a new leopard covered mini bench and a mini tablecloth, burning my hand so much on hot glue that I have blisters, and writing names on everything in the room, I am finally ready for the big day! The finishing touches will be finished today, with very-last minute details done tomorrow as I finalize my lessons. I am a huge advocate of being creative, so I love to find lots of crafts to keep those little hands busy. I think three year-olds have the sweetest little personalities, full of wonder and inquisitive about everything that surrounds them. I will snap some pictures of the final room projects and upload them when I get a chance. I hope you have a happy Monday! I must go get ready for busy little feet!

Ooh La La Blog Land

Ooh La La Blog Land

Ever hear the saying "Great Minds Think Alike"? That is how it is with my bestie, of Sweets & Treats. Whenever I need a little pick-me-up, Julie, of Brown Eyed Belle, and I take the afternoon off and head on over to Louboutin to spend a little hard-earned teaching money. Feeling a little crafty? Have no fear, Poppies and Sunshine and I will be there soon, so count us in!
Not sure if you know, but Trishy and I have a fabulous beach house together. Let us know if you want to visit our getaway place. Want to take a girls' trip? Come on and we will go see Charlotta at Space for Inspiration. Kelly, of Rose and Hudson, always calls when she gets the latest issue of Town and Country in the mail. When I need to take a quick break from my shopping trips in Dallas, Dana, of Eclectic Prep, and I meet to chat over a spot of tea and cupcakes. In the early morning cool, Fashion Meets Food and I enjoy picking fresh blueberries. A morning filled with baking goodies always follows! I have so much fun with Miss Mustard Seed getting things ready for Lucketts. She always has incredible works in progress! When the Minnies are on a play date, Bethany, of Maryland Pink and Green, and I hop on over to Lilly to find the twins something new to wear for their next party. Nothing like tagging along with High-Heeled Foot in the Door when she takes a trip to Company C. While there, I have to snatch a few pillows to spruce up the sun room. On Saturdays, I'm A Nola Girl and I sip champagne at Lilette, as we eat our lunch and talk about our week. The papers have not gone though yet, but any day now The Shoe Girl is going to adopt me.
Sweet Southern Prep and I enjoy making fun drinks and relaxing by the pool.
Krystal, of A Pinch of Lovely, designs all of my party invitations. I also like to have her pick out my outfits.
Megan, of Fried Green Pickles, and I like to sail. Sometimes we are so enthralled in being pirates that we run ashore. When I am ready for a good girls night out on the town, I take along Pink Lou Lou, of Confessions of a 20 Something.

**Today's post was so much fun to put together--let me know if you like it and I'll be sure to do more!

A Pink and A Green Soup

Since I blogged on Monday about soup, I decided I might as well carry on the soup trend and blog about it on Pink and Green Thursday, as well. As hot as it still is, I thought you might enjoy some cold soups to try. For fun I listed some of the cooking tools you might need to make these soups. Enjoy!

Strawberry Soup

2 cups hulled and sliced fresh or (thawed) frozen strawberries
1 cup orange juice
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Whipped topping, as needed
Fresh mint sprigs, optional

STEP 1. In a blender, combine all the ingredients but the whipped topping and mint and process until smooth.
STEP 2. Ladle the soup into bowls and top with a dollop of whipped topping.
STEP 3. Garnish with mint, if desired.

Serves 4 people

Avocado Soup

2 avocados
350 ml of water
60 ml of liquid cream
1 small new onion
1 lemon juice
1 garlic clove
1 bunch of coriander

STEP 1. Peel the avocados and place the pulp inside a blender. Pour the lemon juice.
STEP 2. Add the onions, the garlic, coriander and cream. Blend.
STEP 3. Pour the water little by little until you obtain a good consistence.
STEP 4. Salt then pepper and taste to rectify the seasoning if necessary. Serve nice and cold.

Variation : Use basil instead of coriander.
