Crawfish Boil

Even though we live in the south, I never had crawfish until I went to college. Well, maybe I did in dishes, but not just straight crawfish. I asked my mom yesterday if she had ever had it and she quickly replied, "NO." I told her that when she came home we would have to have a boil so she could at least say she has had it. She has only been living in the south since the fifth grade, and I think that she gets educated.

All of that being said, Bryan and I had a crawfish boil at our house on Saturday. Two of our friends, Paul and Ashley (not married), both celebrated their birthday on Friday. Paul is from New Orleans, went to LSU, and is a huge fan of crawfish boils. His fiance, Danielle, bought him a large boiling pot and burner for his birthday. After school on Friday, Ashley, Danielle and I went to Shreveport and bought two sacks of crawfish and a sack of oysters.

The weather Friday was beautiful--in the 70s! On Saturday the temp dropped, it rained and got almost miserable before it started sleeting later in the night. We ended up setting up an awning outside one of the garage doors so that the boys could cook there. Tables were set up in the garage. Paul also char-grilled oysters. Some we just ate raw. We had ourselves a true crawfish boil! I think there ended up being 13 of us. All of our friends that came are people Bryan works with (and their spouses). Emily ended up coming, too. Oh, and I must add that we had an extra black lab and spaniel running around! We had lots and lots of fun!!
Happy Eating!!!

March Madness

Most of you know that there is this thing on TV going on right now that just happens to be called March Madness. Well, move over basketball because we've got our own March Madness going on! Last week at school we celebrated by dressing up in different themes every day.

Monday: Hat Day

Tuesday: Sunglasses Day

Wednesday: St. Patty's Day

Thursday: Sports Day

Friday: Hawaiian Day

I have to note that my class is the cutest 3-year-old class around! On Tuesday we went on a clover hunt--great pics from that day! We also had leprechaun traps set around the room, and on Wednesday got a visit from a very tricky one that got away, but left his footprints around the room (baby powder)!!
Here are a few pics from the clover hunt.

I hope you enjoy a little piece of how I spend my day!

Birthday Girl

Oh my goodness, I have so much to blog about! I think the easiest way is to do a couple of different posts on the different subjects. The most important will come first!

Drum roll....................................My sister's birthday! It was March 1st! I went to spend the day and night with her. She had to work, so I got to do some much needed shopping. I am a gift person. I LOVE gifts. Getting gifts. Giving gifts. I don't know which I love more! I had already gotten Em a nice little handful of things, but of course they just weren't enough. So, I made the rounds and went to Tulips, Scarlet and Beyond Cotton. I hit some fabulous sales and really racked up! Um...and I got myself a few things along the way. My sweet sister had pressies waiting for me at her house, too! We both love doing things for each other!
We had a huge dinner at Loca Luna. My aunt, Deatra, who lives in Florida just happens to share her birthday with Em! She was in town to celebrate, too. So for dinner it ended up being my Papa, Grandma, Mimi, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Buneva, Aunt Deatra, Bri, Chris, Em and myself. We had quite a crew! After dinner the four of us "kids" went out for a drink at Ciao Baci. It was a wonderful night had by all!
Happy birthday all month long, Em!!!

The first pic is when I took her coffee and a few presents to open at work. The next two are of her opening presents at home after dinner. The last one is of the two of us outside Ciao Baci.

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a very busy one. Friday night Bryan and I headed to Fayetteville when he got home from work. After an unsuccessful attempt for dinner, a stall in traffic due to a wreck, and many Dr. Peppers, we arrived at our destination--the wonderful Webb home!! The Webbs are just like family to us. I took care of the three kids my last year in college and the following summer. Lesly and Jason are so wonderful...Bryan and I look up to them so much!

Saturday Bryan and I got to watch Lauren's and Peyton's last basketball games of the season. I took lots of pictures, but sadly none of them turned out very well. After the games Bryan headed off to fish for the afternoon. I went to meet Emily for a girls' afternoon of lunch and shopping. That was abruptly stopped when after a short phone call we realized that our wedding calculations were wrong. (The whole reason of the trip was because my YOUNGEST cousin, Nathaniel, was getting married to his sweetheart, Lauren--not to be confused with little Lauren.) We raced home, got home and made it to the church with ten minutes to spare! So much for our relaxing afternoon!

The wedding was very sweet! Welcome to the family LAUREN!!

After the wedding some of us went to Hog Haus for drinks and food. As the evening went on, I felt worse and worse. I ended up calling it an early night and headed home for bed. Not to be a party pooper for everyone, I sent Bryan out on the town with Emily. Apparently I missed out on quite a bit...a bride in her dress at the bar, a barefoot bridesmaid, and a groomsman with only his vest on. (This was NOT a part of the same wedding I had attended earlier.)

Sunday we stayed in our pajamas until 2:00! None of us wanted to leave and head back to the real world. I have to admit that I was a bit spoiled with Lesly's cooking--she is a fabulous cook! I finally pulled my camera out a few minutes ago and have added some pictures. I'm still feeling yucky, but cannot get in to see a doctor until Thursday. I'm sure I'll be better by then.

Here are Bryan and Peyton....they spent hours playing playing the Wii and PS3.

Here are Brecken and I watching Peyton's basketball game. He is my little sweetheart!

Here are Bryan and I at the reception.

Here I am with my Mimi and Emily.

Latest Obsession

I am very ready for it to be spring. I am ready to be wearing short-sleeved clothes and even ready to be wearing shorts. My latest InStyle and Bazaar came in last week and I think I have poured over them at least 10 times each. My latest obsession is jumpsuits/rompers. Whatever you want to call them depending on the version.

Here are three that I am loving right now. The top one is Lilly Pulitzer. I'm afraid it is going to be a must-have. The second one is at Bloomingdale's. Not nearly as expensive and completely different from the Lilly. The last one is by far my favorite, only I want it in pink. Tibi. Need I say more?

OH HAPPY DAY!

Oh my goodness, I almost forgot to post the most important thing about today's date...Bryan and I got engaged two years ago today!!! Time has flown by so quickly!!! Here is one of my favorite pictures from that special night!

Maybe A Little Better

I had pretty much forgotten that I even had a blog, until my mind was jarred by a friend's email announcing hers. It has literally been 9 months since my last post. I have decided to try and be a little bit better about blogging....maybe. :)
I will go ahead and for-go a recap of all of the holidays that I missed and start out with the most recent--Valentine's Day! Since we got some snow, Bryan and I decided to stay in and have a relaxing day at home. I had made his card earlier in the week. I still don't think the pics do it justice.

Here is the front:
And here is the inside:

Thursday was the day we had our party at school. Since the letter of the week was "Pp" we had a pajama party, the kids brought their pillows, ate pizza and pudding, drank punch and watched Peter Pan!

Here is a cute one of the kids:
