Last week I left Bryan for the first time since we got married. Yes, he has reminded me more than once that it was
I who did the leaving. My little sister, Emily, graduated a semester early from college, packed up her life and decided to move to Savannah, Georgia. My Mom flew home from overseas to help with the move, and the three of us girls took a road trip. For those of you who don't know, there
are hills in northern Georgia, and it is not fun to go up and down them while driving a truck and u-haul.
We got her all settled in her new place, which is this really cool old building with lots of character--lots of uneven floors and NO closet or kitchen space are the two downfalls. No matter if you just move out of an apartment/house and literally pack everything up, transport it, and unpack, there are always little things that have to be gotten. I cannot tell you how many times we went to Target, TJ Maxx and Wal-Mart. The best place that we found was a furniture store called Nadeau. The website is
http://www.furniturewithasoul.com/. I could have hauled a truck full of stuff back home with me. Let me just say that I am a tad bit envious of Emily living there and buying some fun new stuff! I've already decided that I will be purchasing her gift cards from there for all of the little occasions I can think of. I love to give gifts, and am always thinking of things to do for every occasion. I bought Bryan a new GPS while there, and declared it his "Easter Present"--as if I won't get multiple other things between now and then and claim them as the same thing!
My aunt and uncle from North Carolina drove over for a short weekend trip. Southern Living's Readers' Choice Awards puts Paula Deen's restaurant at the top of the list for best places to eat. I am afraid that I am going to have to disagree. I was very disappointed in just about everything with the meal, except for the banana pudding. Here Emily and I are with our uncle before we sat down to eat.
Emily's boyfriend, Austin, lives about an hour and a half away on St. Simon's Island. The three of us girls went over for a short trip and spent the night. We at at this fabulous place called Barbara Jean's. I LOVED it. The shrimp and grits were one of the best things that I have ever tasted. The weather was a little colder than normal, so we didn't get to really play on the beach.
The downtown and historic district of Savannah are really neat, and I can hardly wait to go back soon so I can explore more! Here are a couple of other pictures from the trip. The first one is me with Emily outside Paula Deen's and the second one is just a cute on of Emily and Austin while we were walking down along the river.
