Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I would love to be in Mexico on the beach right now (minus the swine flu), having one of these little babies and soaking up the sun. Instead, I'm sitting at home and watching it rain. Is anyone else tired of the rain? My poor tomatoes were drowning on Saturday and with the flood expected tonight, I'm sure they'll be treading water when I get up in the morning. On another note, I'm counting down the days until Friday. Yes, it is only Tuesday. But still. Bryan will be home for good!!! I'm so excited. I've hated having him work out of town for the past 6 weeks. I don't know how any married couple can stand to be apart like that. I have gotten plenty of time to watch girl movies and my favorite shows. I think I've watched three seasons of Las Vegas since Bryan's been gone. Last night I finished Season 4--it has definitely become one of my favorite TV shows.

With all this rain comes another bad habit. Shopping on the Internet. Bryan, if you're reading this, I promise I've been a good girl. I'm on a strict budget and so that means NO shopping. But, it never hurts to look, right? I will post two of my latest obsessions/purchases.

1. I love the whole romper craze that has come back into style. I know, call me crazy if you must. This is at Anthropologie and is perfect for the summer. I plan to use it as a cover up.

2. Theory shorts. Especially this style. These are from Bergdorf's, but I found some green linen ones at Neimans about a month ago. Loving them so much, I found them in a cute aqua and white print, too. They are a perfect fit!

Ugghhh.....the sky is getting super dark and I hear loud thunder. Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day!

Colorful Easter Eggs

This year I decided to get egg-stra festive with my Deviled Eggs. Bryan took one look at them and asked if they were edible. And I replied, OF COURSE!! I have to admit that I was pretty proud of myself. We got up Sunday morning and went to church. Some friends, the Spraggins, had invited us over to their house to eat lunch. Their little girl, Chloe, got a pink egg--which I think she was scared to eat. So, call me crazy or have fun making them next year! These are my favorite Deviled Eggs by far!

Curry Deviled Eggs

6 eggs (hard boiled)

4-7 Tbsp mayo

1/2 tsp. chives

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

1/2 tsp. pepper

Simple Yet Cute

I'm having the hardest time not spending a fortune on spring shirts! My closet is in desperate need of cute, every day shirts. I don't think that they are in existance right now. Or, if they do exist, they are way too expensive. I'm an Anthropologie lover. Could wear their clothes every day. But, I just cannot bring myself to purchase such simple shirts for $68!! They add up too fast!!

Snake Slayer

The past few weeks have been so busy! My mom has been here for about a month now and will be leaving on the 7th. My dad came home for two weeks and is gone again. So, the last month has been spent jam-packed with lots of quality family time!

So on to my snake story. Since we live in the boonies and have no gyms around, I run on the dirt roads. I always take Ivy for the first couple of miles and then bring her home. About three-quarters of a mile from our house there is a little creek that runs under the road. Ivy goes as fast as she can to the creek because she knows it is play time. Just as we were getting to the little creek I thought to myself, "I don't think I'm going to be crawling down here much longer. With this warm weather the snakes are about to be out." Famous last words (or thoughts).

We proceeded to finish up our run, I dropped Ivy off and went out for the rest of my run. I got back to the point on the road where the creek runs, glanced down and saw something that looked like an odd little stick...double take and it was a snake!!! Being the good country girl that I am, I chunked rocks at that slippery little sucker until it was no more. Then I continued on my way--with a little pep in my step, of course. A little while later when I had to decide which route to take next, I decided to backtrack and look at the snake again...just to make sure it was really dead. Definitely on alert now, I was watching the ground very carefully, but obviously my thought plan had been a good idea because I saw another one!! I thought to myself, surely this is not the same snake I just squished, I KNOW I pulverized it. So, I chunked rocks again at this little bugger...maybe a little more aggressively this time. Sure enough, the two snakes looked exactly alike and were about 50 feet from one another.

Bryan told me to take pictures of the snakes and email them to him at work. He insisted that they were not poisonous, but my thoughts are that the only good snakes are dead snakes. All in a days work!!

Savannah Trip

Last week I left Bryan for the first time since we got married. Yes, he has reminded me more than once that it was I who did the leaving. My little sister, Emily, graduated a semester early from college, packed up her life and decided to move to Savannah, Georgia. My Mom flew home from overseas to help with the move, and the three of us girls took a road trip. For those of you who don't know, there are hills in northern Georgia, and it is not fun to go up and down them while driving a truck and u-haul.

We got her all settled in her new place, which is this really cool old building with lots of character--lots of uneven floors and NO closet or kitchen space are the two downfalls. No matter if you just move out of an apartment/house and literally pack everything up, transport it, and unpack, there are always little things that have to be gotten. I cannot tell you how many times we went to Target, TJ Maxx and Wal-Mart. The best place that we found was a furniture store called Nadeau. The website is http://www.furniturewithasoul.com/. I could have hauled a truck full of stuff back home with me. Let me just say that I am a tad bit envious of Emily living there and buying some fun new stuff! I've already decided that I will be purchasing her gift cards from there for all of the little occasions I can think of. I love to give gifts, and am always thinking of things to do for every occasion. I bought Bryan a new GPS while there, and declared it his "Easter Present"--as if I won't get multiple other things between now and then and claim them as the same thing!

My aunt and uncle from North Carolina drove over for a short weekend trip. Southern Living's Readers' Choice Awards puts Paula Deen's restaurant at the top of the list for best places to eat. I am afraid that I am going to have to disagree. I was very disappointed in just about everything with the meal, except for the banana pudding. Here Emily and I are with our uncle before we sat down to eat.

Emily's boyfriend, Austin, lives about an hour and a half away on St. Simon's Island. The three of us girls went over for a short trip and spent the night. We at at this fabulous place called Barbara Jean's. I LOVED it. The shrimp and grits were one of the best things that I have ever tasted. The weather was a little colder than normal, so we didn't get to really play on the beach.

The downtown and historic district of Savannah are really neat, and I can hardly wait to go back soon so I can explore more! Here are a couple of other pictures from the trip. The first one is me with Emily outside Paula Deen's and the second one is just a cute on of Emily and Austin while we were walking down along the river.

New To This

Ok, so I have decided to start a blog. I'm not really sure why, but I think it's mostly so I can keep up with everything. I love keep records of activities, so I'm hoping that this will help. I always thought blogs were pointless, but recently I've found so many neat things on other peoples'. I love to find decorating tips, new recipies and everything from cute clothes to pictures of cute kids! We'll see how this goes and hopefully I can give back to other people as well.
