Wordless Wednesday

Ok, almost Wordless Wednesday. You know how I adore leopard?! Well, I have decided that a month just would not be complete without a post about some sort of leopard print. Without babbling about it, I will now continue with Wordless Wednesday.

Kappa T-shirt

All of you sorority ladies (especially Kappa Kappa Gamma gals) this is such wonderful news for Greek life as a whole! I received an email from my sister, who works at the Kappa headquarters in Ohio. Please continue reading below.

There is a lot of buzz on social media re. a Kappa t-shirt that was designed by our UCLA chapter, Gamma Xi. For every sale, a portion of the proceeds goes to RIF and Kappa Foundation. We didn't hear about this as it was being developed but it is catching on with Kappas and the link is being sent virally. Here is the link in case you would like to order one.

"This past summer Gamma Xi Chapter received an invitation to participate in a sorority T-shirt design contest sponsored by Bloomingdale's and Sanctuary Clothing. Members of the chapter worked together for weeks to design a shirt for the contest. Amazingly, six months later, their design is available for purchase through Bloomingdale's! Each of the six groups participating were asked to create a shirt that depicted their sorority, national philanthropy and Bloomingdale's. Members of Gamma Xi, UCLA, worked together to create a T-shirt that is not only attractive, but is uniquely Kappa, containing owls, keys, fleurs-de-lis, the RIF logo and Bloomingdale's‘ “Little Brown Bag”. The runway show capped off the contest and took place at a new, local Bloomingdale's in Santa Monica, Calif., – many members of the chapter were in attendance to cheer for Kappa. With an amazing design and a runway model from UCLA, Kappa Kappa Gamma won the competition! The chapter was presented with a $500 check that was donated to Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) of Southern California. Place your order now! The Sanctuary “Kappa” Tee is now for sale on the Bloomingdale's.com, with $10 from each sale benefiting Kappa’s local and national philanthropies including RIF of Southern California and The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. Congratulations to the ladies of Gamma Xi!"

A big thanks to Emily for letting us all know about this!

A Snow Day

I could not have asked for a more wonderful day than today. I found out last night that I did not have to go in and work, then this morning Bryan found out that he did not have to work either! We awoke to over 8 inches of snow, with it still lightly falling. Like I said yesterday, we NEVER get snow like this! After eating cinnamon rolls, Bryan opened his gifts and then took me for a jeep ride. An hour and a half later we returned home. I felt like a little kid again playing in the powdery white mounds! Bryan let Ivy fetch in the front pasture(she loves the snow), we had a small snowball fight, and we built a snowman in the front yard. Today has been extremely relaxing and enjoyable. Now I'm just crossing my fingers to be out of school again tomorrow!

Snowy Sunday

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!! Snow started falling around 11am, and now at 11pm, it is still falling outside. In southern Arkansas, we hardly ever get a good snowfall, but this has just been beautiful! I didn't really get any good pictures today, but here is one that I snapped of Ivy walking down the front steps.

My first new recipe of the month was duck gumbo. It cooked, and cooked, and cooked all day long. Completely worth it, when I received excellent reviews from everyone.

I forgot to take a picture of the blackberry cobbler when it came out of the oven, but here it is going into the oven. By the time I remembered to take a finished picture, the thing had been demolished!

Tomorrow is Bryan's birthday! I already made homemade cinnamon rolls, which are now rising for the second time above the oven. They will be ready in the morning to pop right in and cook! I feel like I have been cooking all day ( I literally have)! School has been officially cancelled for tomorrow, and now I'm just waiting for the word that Bryan doesn't have to go to work either!
